Building local capacity is critical to improve wildfire response in Peru, where access to equipment and training directly impacts how effectively fires are contained.

On the ground in Lima, GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team worked alongside local fire departments to deliver hands-on training for 9 newly donated fire skids. The sessions focused on safe operation, deployment, and practical use of the equipment in simulated real-world conditions.

For many crews, this equipment is new, and the training helps ensure it can be used effectively to respond to wildfires across the Amazon rainforest and surrounding regions. By combining equipment support with training, GlobalMedic is helping strengthen frontline response and support firefighters working to protect their communities and environment.

Our friends at Gallagher returned to GlobalMedic once again for their annual Gallagher Gives Back Day, bringing 100 of their employees together over the course of the day to help pack aid for communities in need.

At our headquarters, volunteers packed hygiene kits for our Family Emergency Kits that are distributed internationally following disasters. Then, another group worked from our Cloverdale warehouse, packing food for our McAntony’s Menu program, helping provide nutritious pantry staples to food banks and community partners across Canada.

GlobalMedic’s work is powered by volunteers, and partnerships like this allow us to reduce operational costs and direct more resources toward getting The Right Aid to The Right People at The Right Time.
