If you have a labral tear, take a break from your lunges, your pigeon pose, etc. This is a time to focus on pelvic stability and activating deep core stabilizer muscles--time to go back to your foundational Pilates exercises like pelvic tilt, deep abdominal activation, and even breathing.
The great thing about Pilates, is that challenge can be found in even the most simple, essential exercises, and it's a good thing to revisit the basics, no matter how long you've been practicing. When you're ready to start working against resistance again, a closed chain exercise like parallel footwork is a safe place to start because you can adjust elements like the spring tension or the range of hip flexion.

How exactly is a hip labral tear diagnosed? Labral tears are diagnosed by a physician, sports medicine doctor, or a physiotherapist through a combination of symptoms or clinical signs—for example: restricted range of movement. It is difficult to get a specific diagnosis without an MRI or other medical imaging, or by arthroscopic hip surgery.
Medical imaging can confirm the location of the tear and help verify which movements—for example, external (lateral) or internal (medial) rotation of the femur—exacerbate the symptoms (pain, clicking, etc.). Medical imaging and diagnosis will also help inform a treatment plan, which will vary from person to person, but could include manual physiotherapy, Physio Pilates, or in some cases, surgery.

Here is another fantastic exercise for diastasis recti. No pressure on the abdominal wall but lots of ab work through the inner thighs and pelvic floor. One of my all time favourite exercises.

"A physio friend of mine told me not to expect most [of the] doctors to have a clue what Pilates is... I was shocked."
In this blog CoreWorks owner and Pilates instructor discusses the knowledge gap for many doctors and surgeons about what Therapeutic Pilates can do, arguing that closing that gap would benefit patients and help reduce repeat visits.
