بحران نام‌گذاری در ارتدوکس روسی و ریاضیات اروپا:
در اوایل قرن بیستم تزار نیکلای دوم دستور حمله به کلیسای پانتالیمون در کوه آتوس را صادر کرد تا آتش بحران نام‌پرستی را در آنجا خاموش کند. همزمان با این بحران، گیورگ کانتور نظریه مجموعه‌ها و نام‌گذاری بر بی‌نهایت‌ها را معرفی کرد که ریاضی‌دانان فرانسوی ابتدا از آن حمایت کردند ولی بعد آن را کنار گذاشتند. دو ریاضی‌دان روسی با گرایش نام‌پرستی این نظریه را در روسیه توسعه دادند و مکتب بزرگ ریاضی مسکو را پایه‌ریزی کردند. در این سخنرانی با توضیح مطالب فوق به شرح حال شجاعانه‌ و‌ در مواردی غم‌انگیز‌ شخصیت‌های داستان می‌پردازیم.
دکتر رحیم زارع‌نهندی استاد تمام رشته‌ی ریاضیات در دانشگاه تهران است. ——————————
Naming Crisis in Russian Orthodoxy and European Mathematics:
In 1913 Tsar Nicholas II ordered to storm Monastery Pantaleimon of Mount Athos where the heresy of Name Worshipping had created a big crisis. At the same time, the introduction of Set Theory and naming infinities by Georg Cantor was first supported by French mathematicians but then was opposed by them. Two Russian mathematicians took this theory and created the great Moscow Mathematical School. The talk explores these topics with emphasis on partially brave and partially tragic stories of the lives of involved mathematicians.
Dr Rahim Zaare-Nahandi is a full professor of Mathematics at University of Tehran.
