July is a turning point in our gardening cycle, you begin to see what potential your garden brings. Planting is over (mostly) and we turn to nurturing our fields.
In fact, our activities focus less on the plants and more on making the environment they grow in the best we can…watering, fertilizing, dealing with pests, and weeding.
Most of us, or maybe all of us, will never get it perfect even if you spend 24/7 in the garden.
The First of July gives us pause to reflect on being Canadian. Despite knowing we have flaws, and that it isn’t a perfect place by any stretch, we still recognize its potential. Sure a little watering, fertilizing, dealing with pests, and weeding would go a long way, but we get an opportunity to do the best we can.
Today we celebrate our unique freedoms, our ability to make decisions and define our quality of life, not everyone on this planet gets to do that. As events unfold globally it gets easier and easier to understand the envy people have for us as Canadians.
Our garden looks pretty good from here.
Happy Canada Day Everyone!!
