The relationship between a Fire Chief and his Fireground Incident Technician (FIT) is built on trust, communication, and mutual respect. It’s more than just a driver — the FIT is a confidant, an extra set of eyes and ears, and a critical link between command and the front line.

FITs support the chief both en route and on scene, helping manage logistics, size-ups, and radio traffic, all while maintaining discretion with sensitive information. Their unique perspective helps bridge the gap between frontline operations and command-level decisions.

It’s a behind-the-scenes partnership that keeps the fireground running smoothly — one built on experience, teamwork, and quiet leadership.

🚒 A Final Salute to Platoon Chief Tim Algar 🚒

After 41 remarkable years of service, Platoon Chief Tim Algar of Toronto Fire Services completed his last shift on October 5th. From his early days as a firefighter to his role as a leader, Tim’s dedication to protecting our city has been nothing short of extraordinary.

His courage, guidance, and commitment have left an enduring legacy in both the fire service and the Toronto community. Chief Algar, your unwavering service has inspired so many.

Thank you for 41 incredible years. Wishing you a retirement as fulfilling as your career—it’s well-deserved!

On Saturday evening, October 4th, Toronto Fire Service responded to a significant house fire at 16 McGee Street near Eastern Avenue in South Riverdale. Flames were seen through the roof, prompting a second alarm response. No injuries have been reported, and the cause remains under investigation.

On November 2nd, Toronto Fire Services answered the call to a residential fire on First Avenue. Their rapid response and teamwork helped contain the blaze, ensuring the safety of nearby homes and residents.
