I feel as though Chefs get a real bad reputation (some, deservedly so) from the general media they appear in but every now and again their hardcore facade drops and their leadership shines through in really touching ways.
A Chef once told me “I wish I had five of you working around here. It’d make my life so much easier.” It still sticks with me to this day and he wasn’t saying it to put smoke up my ass. He was giving me a genuine compliment and it may have been made in passing but it meant the world to me.
