My first time trying seed snails and so far I’m impressed. Still lots of time to get Japanese Indigo seedlings started this year if you want to try for yourself. Both the seedlings and the final pots don’t need much space!

Finished the colourwork section of my sweater! It has been so delightful to watch the colours roll off my knitting needles, through the grey days of winter.
All dyed with leftovers from my natural dye and indigo workshops last summer.
Now I just have to knit grey for ages…. But that’s okay cause spring is around the corner. Even saw my first snow drops today, yay!

Taught a private natural dye class today and our aim was to get many different shades from just a few dyebaths.
With four dyes - cochineal, madder, weld and logwood, we got 12 shades. An alum bath, an iron post mordant and an exhaust bath for each.
Not sure which is my favourite, but I think it might be (surprise, surprise) the cochineal. But maybe (for a change) the cochineal + iron (top left in the third slide)
Which one do you like best?
