I was saddened to learn about the passing of Jack Shaheen this past week. His work exposing the negative stereotypes and its impact on an entire people has really been the basis for my motivation to create a more balanced depiction. He influenced my entire filmmaking philosophy.

I was recently in touch with Dr. Jack and told him that I admired his work, and I looked forward to working with him on future projects. Hopefully the next generation can look at the work he's done and use it to make a change.
