It’s not a small thing to be the only male represented among a group of exceptional women.
Along the way I was often motivated with the high level of achievement that each of you have in your professional careers and the willingness to continue learning and growing through this process.
We might not be perfect, but You all inspire me and made me feel like a somebody.
Shout out to an incredible audience for sharing your positive energy and connecting our experience across generations.

Join us for an evening of Dub Poetry
Join us for an evening of Dub Poetry in Process
Last year, we invited 10 emerging community members and dub poets to learn alongside Toronto’s 7th Poet Laureate, Lillian Allen, and award-winning artist Britta B.
Over four weeks, they crafted original works rooted in personal and collective truths, developing voice, rhythm, and presence within the dub poetry tradition.
On March 12, we invite you to witness the work in motion. This is a space not only to hear the poetry, but to move with it.
This is not a showcase.
It is a listening room.
A gathering.
A moment of shared frequency.

THANK YOU - BLACK HISTORY IN VERSE
I am truly grateful for a joy filled experience, celebrating Black History in Verse.
This event was refreshing for my soul, to be in a space with so many gifted poets, writers and performers all celebrating our shared history, culture and future.
THE STORY:
Last year, Nia Centre for the Arts invited 10 emerging community members and dub poets to learn alongside Toronto’s 7th Poet Laureate, Lillian Allen, and award-winning artist Britta B.
This past weekend (On Friday February 27th) our Dub Poetry crew was in front of an audience together, for the first time, opening the show for Black History In Verse.
We shared the stage alongside some of the best poets and Spoken Word artists in Toronto.
Shout out to , , and almost a dozen others Including our event hosts:
“Lillian Allen” (Toronto’s Poet Laureate) and “Shahaddah Jack” (Toronto’s youth Poet Laureate).
You did an amazing job energizing the audience and community members that filled the City of Toronto Archives space on Spadina Rd.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event an amazing good time!
