Monday September 30th is Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada. As a 100% Indigenous-owned company, Federal Wireless Communications Inc. will remain closed in honor and recognition of this day. We encourage you to take this time to familiarize yourself with the importance of this day to the Indigenous communities to learn about the history and reconciliation within Canada between our Government, our countries citizens and our Indigenous Community.
Honouring the legacy of Indian Residential Schools
The Indian Residential School system operated across Canada for well over 100 years, with the last schools closing in the 1990s. Indian Residential Schools were created to separate Indigenous children from their families and communities, and to systematically strip away their traditions, cultural practices and languages.
More than 150,000 First Nations, Inuit and Métis children from across the country were forced to attend Indian Residential Schools, which were often located far from their homes. Thousands never made it home.
Each year on the federally recognized National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect and honour Survivors, their families and communities affected by the legacy of Indian Residential Schools.

The team at Federal Wireless Communications wishes to recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day

Our Indigenous friends, coworkers and the larger community are an essential part of Canada’s culture, history and future. That’s why, in cooperation with Indigenous organizations, Canadians officially recognize June as National Indigenous History Month and June 21st as National Indigenous Peoples Day. This day is for Canadians to recognize and celebrate the contributions, unique heritage and diverse cultures of Inuit, Métis and First Nations peoples.
