I’m a multi instrumentalist, dj and electronic musician with over 20 years experience performing, recording and touring. I began learning tabla when I was 7 and was fortunate to begin my professional career 6 years later when I took the opportunity to join the critically acclaimed, Juno award nominated, world music band - The Toronto Tabla Ensemble (TTE). Over the next 8 years the TTE performed ac
ross North America, recorded three albums, collaborated and performed with some of Canada's most respected musicians. In 1999 the collaborative album “Firedance” was nominated for a Juno award in the “best global album” category. As my relationship with Indian classical music and global grooves became more intimate I was also being heavily influenced by the popular music around me and it was during this time that I fell in love with the art of DJ’ing. So, in the summer before high school I purchased some DJ equipment and began to hone my skills. In my teens I began to explore new world music styles and instrumentation and the dhol and bongos were added to my repertoire. In 2001 I joined the groundbreaking, Toronto based artistic collective – iDRUM and brought Indian instrumentation to the dance floors of Toronto’s most prestigious night spots. Music composition was something that I’d really wanted to explore and in 2002 I took the opportunity to score for film, composing original music for Richie Mehta’ s film “Anamika". This insatiable love of “the beat” eventually led me into the realm of electronic music. I began experimenting with sine waves, oscillators and filters; rhythm machines and live electronic music production. In 2008 I landed the part of principal tabla and dhol player for INDIA CIRCUS- an Indian themed spectacle designed by Franco Dragone (Cirque du Soleil) and moved to Germany to tour with the show. I’m currently working as a percussionist/performer, and composer in this beautiful city. Thank you for the opportunity to share my music. DISCOGRAPHY:
