Peace out, Savary, but I’ll be back.
I spent a week on this quiet haven, belonging to my friend and colleague. After a long journey—two planes, a taxi, a water taxi, and a golf cart ride—I arrived, and it was pure peace. Walking the forest trails, looking up at towering Douglas firs, I realized that beauty blooms when we slow down and notice.
Kayaking to see the seals, beachcombing for clams, sharing a mermaid beach party—this was all a practice in mindfulness, being present, and naming beauty as it fills us. Finding the words to describe it is what sustains us. I’ll be bringing this into my work—so stay tuned, because this mindful beauty is key to the design process. It fills us, and it’s what we bring home.
