The Basilians

Our confrères from Mexico and Colombia gathered for the Sixth Latin American Basilian Summit — being together like this, in person, is something truly special. It's a chance to reconnect with the mission that unites us across borders, and to be reminded that we are never doing this work alone.

During our gathering, we visited La Parroquia de San Juan Crisóstomo en San Juan de Aragón, the first place where the Basilian Fathers arrived in Mexico back in 1964. Walking those grounds, celebrating the Eucharist with the parish community, and being welcomed with such warmth and gratitude — it grounds you. It connects you to the ten founders who started all of this, and to every Basilian who has carried that mission forward since.🙏

to Fr. James “Hanny” Hanrahan (1926–2012, ordained 1952) 📚🏒 A historian, educator, and visionary leader, he helped revise the congregational Rule, the Basilian Way of Life, which guides Basilians to this day. As Superior General, Hanny championed bold ideas—from supporting Father David Bauer’s dream of a Canadian national hockey program to helping launch the Basilian Lay Associates. 🙏✨

Assumption University named Bishop Ronald Fabbro, CSB, Chancellor Emeritus in recognition of his 24 years of dedicated service as Chancellor at the University.

From presiding over many Convocation ceremonies to serving on the Assumption University Senate and ambassador for academic and community work, he has carried out these roles with faithful dedication. Basilian confrères stand with the communities of Windsor and London in gratitude for his commitment to Catholic education and ministry.
