POSTURE is one of the main focuses of Essentrics and is pertinent to a healthy life!

I know, I know… more about Essentrics… but hear me out.

We’re told from a young age that we should have perfect posture. I think that stems from a lot of outdated societal views, and I always hated being told, “Sit up straight, sit up straight!”, but it stuck with me and now carries new meeting.

Since I started taking care of my health in my early 30s, I’ve come to appreciate the benefits of good posture. Let’s look at a few.:

👍🏻 BREATHING: the ability to take a deep breath consistently and with ease, bringing in more oxygen to the body and creating energy and life within your cells

👍🏻 CIRCULATION: not only of blood, but of lymphatic tissue, helping to pump fluids throughout your body and allowing for drainage of old debris

👍🏻 MOBILITY: your core and your spinal column house tons of muscles that are responsible for keeping your body active and strong, giving you a bu**er range of motion

👍🏻 PAIN RELIEF: there’s no better feeling than when your body is aligned and strong and there’s space between your joints so you can move smoothly

I’m still working on my posture and with being a new mom I’ve found it hard to stay on top of it, but when I’m out of alignment I notice it much more quickly and am able to put myself back together with more ease from years of practice.

It doesn’t take long to correct poor posture, though. If your back is always hurting, your shoulders are tight, you can’t open your chest or raise your arms above your head with a straight back, or your hips and pelvic girdle are uncomfortable (or all of the above), book a consult call with me to discuss how Essentrics can help you (🔗⬆️).

Having years of Essentrics training under my belt and having been forced to teach virtually from home, I started to up my game and teach more classes a week than I had been before. For about two years, I was teaching four or five, sometimes six classes a week. It felt amazing! Even with the few weeks off to heal my back, I didn’t skip a beat when I returned. That really helped my body grow through pregnancy and recover from a C-section in postpartum.

I was recapping with a friend today about how when I was in the OR prepping for my cesarean, the surgeon asked me if I was a rock climber, because my muscles were so toned and strong on my core. (My doula said the same thing about my back muscles). I laughed and proceeded to tell her and the rest of the OR staff about Essentrics ad nauseam…remember, I was on drugs at the time. 🤣

It is my belief that having been practicing rebalancing my entire body and getting the most out of my personal flexibility and body awareness in the years prior to being pregnant, I was able to recover more swiftly and develop less scar tissue from my surgery, as well as more easily untangle any residual scar tissue.

My extended belief is that everyone can do it too. Every C-mom reading this knows how her body felt before getting pregnant, during pregnancy, during labor, and in postpartum recovery. There is absolutely no shame in having to recover from childbirth, it is what we are designed to do. I did, however, find it hard to mentally recover from an unplanned cesarean. One major thing that made it so much easier was acknowledging how quickly my body rebounded. Because of that, I simply believe that there is a way to set your body up for an easier journey.

Let’s talk about how Essentrics may be helpful for you! Msg me to chat.

Happy Surprise Saturday, Friends…it’s giveaway time!

To all mamas out there, have you practiced affirmations? Honestly, I don’t do it often enough, BUT I did practice them for the first few months after Annabelle was born and I can say it made all the difference. I bought the Adult Affirmation Deck from while pregnant, and once things were a little (a lot) overwhelming after Annabelle was born, I drew a random card and hung it on the mirror in the nursery opposite the nursing chair. I’d leave it there as long as it took to sink in, then I’d change it. Then, when my mom needed some support, I passed along the deck to her.

If you have tough thoughts about being a new (or new again) mom that just keep ruminating in a negative way, try affirmations. They take no time at all, are immediately uplifting, and they’re super easy to repeat throughout the day. I love having a deck handy, because I prefer handwritten visuals that I can see around the house over an app on my phone that I may forget about. I’m really excited to share with you another of the decks that Brianne from sells.

It’s called the Mama Affirmation Deck and it’s geared toward moms in need of a little confidence boost. These decks will be available at 30% the list price to all those who sign up for a class or class series with me. Better yet, one lucky registrant will win a deck to use for themselves or gift to a friend or family member!

How to enter:

✨Sign up for one or multiple classes to receive 30% off the Mama Affirmation Deck

✨Sign up for a 9-class pack or 18-class pack by Monday, September 20th to enter the draw for a free Mama Affirmation Deck

Best luck to all participants!

My ESSENTRICS story 🤸🏻‍♀️

Essentrics has been my main form of movement for over 5 years. It’s the foundational practice I use to support my day-to-day life, while repairing my body from injury & strengthening it too.

Years ago I wasn’t taking good care of my body. Exercise was not part of my life and I wasn’t ready to entertain it. But in my early thirties, my values changed and I was ready to take good care of myself. I came across Essentrics classes offered at my place of work and that was it for me. My instructor .by.lauren inspired me to become an instructor and here I am 7 years later.

Over the years I’ve used this stretching and strengthening practice to change my body. I used to have a lot of joint pain, a bad slouch, flat feet, shin splints, and tight muscles. No duh, I wasn’t moving my body at all! It took a couple years to create a regular practice, but man did my body change. I felt great! At the same time my teaching practice was taking off and I was starting to really become an Essentrics athlete. My body felt aligned, my feet had their arches back, and I knew how to work on specific points in my body when pain arose, which was more rare.

One month before I got pregnant I fell on the stairs. I injured a big muscle in my back and couldn’t walk for a few days. Recovery was slow initially, but once I was able to do Essentrics again my repair time quickened. I was back teaching after 6 weeks. While pregnant I continued to use the practice to keep my body strong and flexible as it grew.

After hours of hard labour, I had a C-section. My body felt very foreign to me for weeks following childbirth. I didn’t practice Essentrics for about two months afterward. That was very unlike me and I knew I needed it back in my life. Once I started again I slowly but surely began feeling right in my body. I’m still feeling the imbalances from my fall and there’s more to it than just doing Essentrics, but this practice surely helps me edge my way toward feeling as pain-free as possible once again.

That’s my wish for you. I’m here to help guide you to a place where you feel you know yourself again after the momentous occasion of child labour.

Inspired to get back to green juice by my girl I busted out my juicer this morning and got to it!

Again, inspired by my girl Rachelle, the recipe is up on my website (link in bio), though this juice is somewhere between the Staple Green Juice and my Green Apple Lemonade. Regardless, it’s delicious. Duke likes it too!

Happy sunny spring day to all! ☀️🥬🥒
