Beloved Tan

🎞️ It’s truly a privilege to work with incredible talent that sets the bar so high! This production has been years in the making and I almost forgot about this intriguing new series… THE BIG CIGAR premieres on on May 17, 2024.

💫The amazing MUA team took a chance despite all the bad sunless-tans they have seen and trusted me to create the perfect colour for the talented actor .nivola , who plays Bert Schneider, in the series, which is based on a true story. They didn’t want the hassle of using body makeup to deepen his skin tone for so many reason.
With a little luck & experience I perfected the colour on the first trial based on looking at a photograph of Bert. I also created a self-tan mousse in the same colour so the makeup team could easily and quickly maintain the perfect complexion throughout the following months of filming.

📸 .nivola This is a wild story about the friendship between Black Panther leader Huey P. Newton and Hollywood movie producer, pl***oy, and political radical Bert Schneider. Bert produced Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, and The Last Picture Show, and won an Oscar for making the anti-war Vietnam documentary Hearts and Minds before turning his attention full time to activism. He became best friends with Huey Newton and the events that played out between them in 1974 were crazier than fiction. I’m very excited to tell this story with Andre Holland.
