My name is Signe Ronka and I'm the founder of Figure Skater Bootcamp Inc. In short, I was a former National and International medalist in the Junior level representing Canada at Junior Worlds, Junior Grand Prix's and the Junior Grand Prix Finals. I was often plagued with injuries one after another, which took me out of competition in 2006, where I finished top 10 in Senior Ladies at Nationals. I s
The toe loop on average is the most disliked jump from skaters when you ask them out of all the jumps which one they don’t like the most!!! We need to start changing this and start focusing on perfecting the technique from the foundational level.
The toe loop is a highly technical jump that needs constant corrections for skaters as they learn it. If you miss fixing the critical components , the jump will always feel slightly off or hard to land.
To find out the movements you need to practice on a regular basis, make sure you try this drill and subscribe to FLEXAFIT EDGE, where we show you ALL the more important exercises both on and off ice to practice so your toe loop can correct itself into your favourite jump! Online.flexafit.com
Are you able to do these Salchow check drills for both forward three then and back three turn entries?
Some things to check for:
- Can you hold both parts of the turn for 4-5 counts without twisting or rotating into the circle?
- Can you control the hips and upper body from rotating after the turn?
Remember that these basic turns are critical to perform with exact precision if you want to get to triples one day 💪 think of it as building the foundation strong for the jumps and spins to perform with more consistency and accuracy.

DAY 4- What a day!
Today was filled with breakthroughs, big smiles, and moments our athletes will never forget.
- First-ever Lutzes landed after months (and even years) of hard work.
- First Axels landed.
- Faster, stronger spins with increased revolutions.
- Better body positions, stronger takeoffs, and more confident landings.
But beyond the jumps and spins, what has been most rewarding is watching every athlete grow in confidence, believe in themselves, and realize what they’re capable of when they train with purpose.
The progress this week has been incredible, and we couldn’t be more proud of every skater who has stepped onto the ice ready to learn, work hard, and challenge themselves.
