Egg Helpers
07/03/2026
Egg donation isn’t just for women facing infertility, it also helps same-sex couples, single parents by choice, and individuals with genetic conditions or fertility concerns grow their families.
By becoming an egg donor, you have the opportunity to make parenthood possible for someone who couldn’t do it without your help.
If you’d like to learn more about how you can help grow someone else’s family through egg donation, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out today to learn more.
As someone who donated my eggs to help someone start their family, here are 5 hills I’ll die on:
1. Egg donation is not as scary as the internet makes it sound.
There is no evidence that donating eggs causes infertility. During an egg donation cycle, medications recruit multiple eggs that would otherwise naturally be lost that month, rather than “using up” your future fertility. In Canada, donors are carefully screened and monitored throughout the process.
2. Egg donation creates families that otherwise wouldn’t exist.
For people facing infertility, same-sex couples, single parents by choice, and those with genetic conditions, egg donation can be the missing piece that makes parenthood possible.
3. The downtime wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected.
Everyone’s experience is different, but I was back to my normal day-to-day activities much sooner than I anticipated. The internet had me expecting the worst, but for me, recovery was very manageable.
4. The injections and appointments became part of my routine.
I was nervous going into the process, but once I got started, it was much less overwhelming than I had imagined. After the first few days, it just became another part of my day.
5. Egg donors deserve respect, not judgment.
Choosing to help someone build their family is an incredibly personal decision. Whether someone decides to donate or not, that choice deserves respect. For those who do donate, they’ve given a gift that can change someone’s life forever.
Some things you DON’T need to worry about with egg donation. 💖
During a journey as a surrogate or an egg donor, past trauma can come up. When this happens, it's okay to ask to take a moment to do what you need to do for you and to give yourself the self-care you need. On this journey, you can also receive coaching on how to handle these situations when they happen.
