Shocking news from Ottawa today as the federal government lets foreign billionaire streaming giants off the hook when it comes to contributing to Canadian culture!
Instead of obligating these wildly wealthy media conglomerates to modestly invest in the country where they make massive profits, the government announced that a $600 Million Dollar government fund will replace that. And who will pay for that? The Canadian taxpayer - whether they have a streaming subscription or not.
It's no secret that the American administration wanted this gone... and now it is. Makes you wonder just who is pulling the strings on Canadian cultural sovereignty.
Doesn't feel very "elbows up" does it?
