The restriction of internet access in northern Afghanistan severely undermines educational opportunities, particularly for girls, by cutting off one of the few remaining avenues for remote learning. In a context where in-person schooling is already limited or outright banned for many girls, online education had served as a critical lifeline.

This action not only makes gender inequality worse, but also clearly violates the basic right to education. At CWB, we strongly condemn any measures that limit access to learning, especially for girls in northern Afghanistan. We believe that every child has the right to quality education, regardless of their gender or location!

On September 1st, 2025, a powerful 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan’s mountainous eastern region, claiming the lives of more than 800 people and injuring over 2,800, according to early reports from authorities.

The earthquake devastated several provinces, including Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Nuristan, leaving families shattered, homes reduced to rubble, and entire communities in mourning.

At CWB, we extend our deepest thoughts and prayers to the innocent lives lost, and to the countless families now facing unimaginable pain. Afghanistan mourns as one, for those we have lost, and for those left behind in the quiet aftermath of tragedy💔
