Daily Bread Food Bank
As a leader in the fight against hunger, Daily Bread is more than a food bank. In addition to providing food, Daily Bread also provides services such as community information and referrals, job training, crisis counselling, community gardening and community kitchens, research and public policy, the Who's Hungry report as well as training workshops for staff and volunteers at our member agencies.
Summer harvest season is underway, and fresh produce is making its way through the Daily Bread production hall! 🌱🥦🧅
Through our Farm to Food Bank program, generous farm partners across Ontario donate more than 3 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables each year. That produce is then sorted and distributed through our network of food programs across Toronto, helping ensure communities have access to nutritious food.
Ever wondered how it all comes together? Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the journey from farm to food bank. Learn more at dailybread.ca/farms

What an incredible way to close out Pride Month. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💛
Yesterday, we were proud to join thousands of people at the Pride Toronto in a celebration of love, community, and belonging.
As an organization committed to social justice, it was an honour to march alongside so many individuals and organizations advocating for a more inclusive and equitable city.
Daily Bread stands with the 2SLGBTQI+ community today, throughout the year, and always. Together, we will continue working toward a city where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to be their authentic selves.

Last week, the federal government announced a National Food Security Strategy, including new investments to strengthen local food production and supply chains.
This is an important step. But food insecurity is, at its core, an income issue.
In its current form, this strategy will not meaningfully reduce food insecurity for the one in four Canadians—including one in three children—who are struggling to afford the basics.
Today, we're joining non-profit organizations across Canada in calling on the federal government to make income security a core pillar of the National Food Security Strategy.
If we want to reduce food bank lines, we must address the root causes driving people to food banks in the first place. That means ensuring everyone has enough income to afford essentials like food and housing.
We are proud to join .Canada in this call

At Daily Bread Food Bank, we’re grateful for partners who share our vision of a city where everyone has access to the food they need.
We’re proud to recognize WDI Wise Device Inc. for their recent $50,000 donation, helping us respond to record levels of food insecurity across Toronto. This generous support will help provide nutritious food, strengthen our network of member agencies, and ensure more people can access critical assistance.
We recently welcomed members of the WDI team, including the Weiss family, to our Community Food Hub for a tour and cheque presentation with our CEO, Neil Hetherington. The visit offered an opportunity to see firsthand the scale of our response to the growing hunger crisis and the impact their generosity is making in communities across the city.
Thank you to the Weiss family and everyone at WDI for their compassion, generosity, and commitment to putting food on the tables of those experiencing hunger. If you'd like to learn more, please visit: https://www.dailybread.ca/blog/wdi-wise-device-inc-deepens-commitment-to-fighting-hunger/

As the weather gets warmer and the school year comes to a close, we want to recognize the incredible support we’ve received from student volunteers throughout the 2025–2026 school year! ☀️🏫
Here are some fun facts about how student volunteers have made an impact at Daily Bread:
🎒 We welcomed 40 school groups
🧑🏫 Brought together 1,425 students and supervisors
⏰ An amazing 1,751.25 volunteer hours were contributed
🥫 Together, they sorted 124,534 lbs of food which is equivalent to 124,534 meals!
Overall, they helped prepare essential items that support our neighbours experiencing food insecurity.
Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and enthusiasm with us. We wish all students and educators a wonderful summer ahead and look forward to welcoming new school groups next year! 💛
