Bill 60 brings big changes for Toronto renters and not in a good way:

• No more 1-month compensation for “landlord’s own use” evictions (if 120 days’ notice is given).
• Rent arrears filings cut to 7 days meaning you have half the time to pay before a landlord can file at the LTB.
• Appeal window reduced from 30 days to 15 days.
• Renters must pay 50% of arrears upfront to raise issues like maintenance or harassment at a hearing.

These changes make evictions faster, appeals harder, and financial support more limited especially in an already stressed rental market.
