As indicated in its statutes, the purpose of the cooperative is to help its members to build up housing savings for the purpose of acquiring land for residential use, but also and above all, to build or have built housing and to reduce for the benefit of its members and thanks to their collective effort, the session prices of land or housing. The idea is to allow them to benefit from an economy of scale on the costs of building materials, by setting up a wholesale supply system. In addition to the housing component, the members of the cooperative also want to invest in community, social, solidarity and environmental economy projects, particularly in the fields of education, training and health. However, the cooperative has the comparative advantage of being able to capitalize on the diverse and varied expertise and experience of its 46 members in the areas targeted by its project. In addition, the cooperative has a potentially significant capacity to be able to mobilize financial resources given the number and purchasing power of its members, which is above the average purchasing power of Senegalese.
