🚨 BANNED FROM CANADA FOR 5 YEARS: The cost of a "Ghost Consultant."
Nobody told them that paying a travel agency to help with their visa application would count as immigration fraud. But the Federal Court just did. 👇
This isn't a scare story—it’s a real 2026 Federal Court ruling (Thon v. Canada, 2026 FC 558). Two applicants were found guilty of misrepresentation—not for fake documents—but because a travel agency:
- Scanned their papers 📄
- Paid the fee with its own credit card 💳
- Was never disclosed on the application ❌
That’s all it took. 5-year ban. Family separated.
🔴 THE REPERCUSSIONS (What they don't tell you):
Using an unregulated travel agency or a "ghost consultant" instead of a licensed professional (RCIC or Lawyer) has massive consequences:
- Permanent "Fraud" Red Flag: Even after the 5 years, your record is permanently marked. Future visas to Canada—and even the US, UK, and Australia—become nearly impossible to get.
- Family Inadmissibility: If you get banned, your spouse and children are often banned with you. One mistake ruins everyone’s future.
- No Legal Recourse: Because the agency isn't regulated, you can't report them to the Council. You lose your money, your visa, and your rights.
- Immediate Deportation: If you’re already in Canada and they find out a "ghost" helped you before, your current permit is revoked instantly.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Canadian law is clear. If someone acts on your behalf and money changes hands—it MUST be declared. If someone is helping you with your application who isn't a licensed RCIC or Lawyer and are not disclosing this representation in your application, they are putting you at risk of a ban. If your are at fault there is no recourse for you.
But if you are applying though RCIC or lawyer and receive an unjustified rejection, there are plenty of ways for recourse.
