This month our ambassador Polly, , the Nicosia Municipality, and the Mayor of Nicosia came together for a community gardening day — not just to add a pop of color to our streets, but to bring people together 🌸🌿

From planting to painting, it was a beautiful reminder of how small acts of care can transform shared spaces and spark connection.

🌱 This July, together with the amazing team at —Cyprus’ first youth-led environmental volunteer organization—we reached nearly 300 children (ages 5–12) across summer schools in Nicosia, and we’re just getting started!

Through multilingual sessions, we explored the roots and ripple effects of climate change, pollution, and waste — and more importantly, what we can do about it

🌍 From reforestation basics to recycling, energy conservation, and mindful choices, these young minds showed us that action starts early 💚

The hidden side of Nicosia Linear Park tells a story of modern waste and the urgent need for change. Our cleanup team uncovered eight bags of trash, including discarded e-waste—brooms, clothing, sports equipment, and even a microwave—shedding light on the human footprint in this natural space.

Led by YGA Ambassador Polina Dyniak, this effort shows how local action can spark a global ripple effect. The team, composed of students from the American Academy Nicosia, came together to transform awareness into impact.

Every item collected serves as a reminder: protecting our planet starts here, with us.
