Doctor Google is OUT

I’m finding it is getting increasingly difficult to get good information online about gut health.

More and more the things at the top of the search bar are sponsored by big conglomerates that give out the same old tired information…many of them pointing to a one-sided solution that only looks to treat symptoms and not get to the root cause which is the health of the microbiome.

And the search engines never factor in that each person with IBS has a unique set of symptoms.

The Biggest Misconception That Kept Me Stuck

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you are feeling stuck in overwhelm about your gut health symptoms...keep reading.

What I need you to understand is that what you are experiencing is just the symptom of something much bigger going on beneath the surface.

Symptoms do not exist in isolation.

They are never without cause…

And unless you deal with the actual root cause of your IBS… you will be stuck in a cycle of symptom patching forever.

I say this because one of the biggest misconceptions that kept me stuck was this idea that if I just got my symptoms under control the problem would go away.

This “solution” didn’t take into account the dysbiosis behind the symptoms.

Dysbiosis is when the balance of bacteria in the gut shifts from mostly “good” types to mostly “bad” types. These bad bacteria create lots of gas which causes the bloating and abdominal discomfort in IBS. And depending on which type of gas they produce (methane or hydrogen), this can result in constipation or diarrhea.

This meant that despite all my efforts to patch all my symptoms…they would return leaving me feeling like I was back at square one.

It wasn’t until I started dealing with the dysbiosis that I was able to achieve more permanent results.

These Health Issues Are Not Random…

This list of conditions probably looks random, but in fact they’re all connected and all point to the same root driver – dysbiosis. And dysbiosis is a big factor when it comes to the development of IBS.

If you haven’t already, you will hear me talk a lot of about dysbiosis. It’s a condition that occurs when the balance of good bacteria to bad bacteria in the gut gets altered. It’s a key factor in the mechanisms that lead to IBS. And it is one of my Big 5 issues that has to be addressed when dealing with IBS.

When you are dealing with IBS, you can often end up with different health issues where seemingly unrelated symptoms present themselves, leading to confusion as you or your doctor start trying to “patch” up all these different symptoms.

The problem is, unless you are addressing the root cause of all these different symptoms, you will spend your whole life “patching” different and new symptoms that will continue to crop up.

If you have these (and other) symptoms and feel like you are just running from one solution to another you need to stop the patching and start reversing the main issue which is dysbiosis.
