TSH Woodlab

What started as curiosity last year quickly turned into a full-blown obsession.
It actually took a bit of convincing to get Maddy to try pen turning , but once he did, that was it. One lathe, a few blanks, and a whole lot of shavings later… he was hooked.
There’s something grounding about shaping a piece of wood by hand, watching exotic grains come to life , especially when the result is something as personal and timeless as a pen.
This one? African Black and white ebony. Dense, dark, and so satisfying to turn.
Many more to come.

Not every day in the workshop feels productive.
Some days it’s just sweeping sawdust, redoing a joint, or staring at a piece of wood waiting for it to make sense.
And yet showing up, that’s the whole game.
Skills don’t suddenly arrive. They sneak up on you. One slow cut at a time. One small correction. One “eh! not quite” turned into “actually… that works!”
The only way to get better is to keep showing up. Especially on the days when it doesn’t feel like much is happening.
And somehow… it adds up.
Shoutout to all the creatives who keep hammering away at their art.Even when it feels like nothing’s moving.
You’re building something. Always.
