Free woman - what does that mean?

Only recently I begun to understand the depth and true meaning of those words. A free woman is someone who knows what she wants out of life: her passions, talents, values, and goals. No one can dominate or manipulate her, tell her what to do or when, what to be or why. She takes responsibility for her choices, decisions, and mistakes. Her self worth isn’t tied to judgments and opinions of others. She isn’t defined by stereotypes.

A free woman knows how to say no, how to leave and let go, how to fall and rise again. She is free to choose her relationships, profession, education, income, life purpose, whether or not to have children, who to live with and sleep with, and how to look and feel. She chooses who she is inside and what teams to follow.

This is what freedom is, and this is the spiritual lesson that every woman on the planet goes through - to take her freedom. In most countries women have the freedom to pursue all of this but remain enslaved by the culture and often because of their own doing. But this generational trauma can be healed.

And, of course, it's important not to forget the countries where patriarchy still reigns, and women are denied freedom - over their lives, children, education, and realization. Where a woman is second-class.

I think that the freedom of women is the responsibility of all genders. For men, the responsibility is to acknowledge and create the space for equality. For women, the responsibility falls on developing the courage to reach for that freedom and developing the wisdom to use it wisely.
