Step-by-Step: Your First Therapy Session🌸
Starting therapy can feel daunting. It takes self-awareness and courage to reach out, and it's very common to feel nervous or uncertain about what to expect with a new therapist - even if you've been to therapy before! We hear all kinds of questions and worries about getting started, including:

How can I prepare for a virtual therapy appointment?💻🙌
We created the following tips for clients on how to prepare for a session:
1️⃣Schedule free time after your session. Counselling can bring up many emotions, sometimes in unexpected ways. Avoid scheduling a virtual therapy session between work-from-home Zoom calls, without an extended break.
2️⃣Choose a space in your home where you feel comfortable and have privacy to speak openly.
3️⃣Gather any items you may wish to have on hand (water, tea, tissues) and plug in your device.
4️⃣Use headphones with a microphone. This makes the sound quality much better and helps protect the confidentiality of your session.

Our Clinic Director, Mira, will ask for a brief overview of the issues or goals you’d like to work on. She can answer any questions you might have about our services or approach, too. Mira will recommend a therapist based on your needs and preferences.
3️⃣Get Started
Once you’re matched, you can get started with your therapist. Therapy and wellness services are personal, so finding the right fit is really important. If you aren’t fully satisfied, let us know and we’ll connect you to another service provider on our team.

Welcome back to our series on unplugging from work! Here's Tip #4:
📧 Uninstall your email and work apps
Ignoring notifications is hard. While you are on vacation, it is better to just prevent notifications from arriving at all. You can disable or mute notifications (email, Slack, WhatsApp, or any other work apps). Better yet, uninstall your email app from your phone completely. These are effective ways to help you create distance between your vacation self and your work self.
