Eat Heal Move

For four and a half years,
time stood still.
Our lives dictated by infertility.
We did not plan.
We did not move forward.
We could not see a life beyond the darkness.
We mourned losses.
We took tests.
We counted days.
We held our breath.
And suddenly everything changed.
Not like it had before,
when time stood still.
It was a new season of change —
You took your first breath,
and life resumed.
Your beating heart breathed life into our broken hearts.
Your sunshine filled our lives with color.
Your curiosity propelled our lives forward.
Tomorrow you will be ONE.
Happy Birthday my sweet Leo 🦁
It was always you.

There’s no vacation from infertility.
—
This is my first vacation in four years that I was able to travel without the emotional baggage of infertility.
When you’re navigating infertility and pregnancy loss you don’t get to escape ‘it’ when you travel. There’s no putting a pin in it until after the holiday season. The fear, hopelessness and overwhelm are the first things you unwillingly pack in your suitcase.
I spent our last vacation curled up on the couch eight weeks pregnant, sick from 24/7 nausea, terrified that we would lose our baby for a fifth time.
—
In the past four years I can’t remember a vacation where I wasn’t…
Anxiously waiting for news
Waiting for embryos to be graded
Waiting for an (IVF) cycle to begin
Calling my RE from an airport
Tracking meds across the country
Carrying a suitcase of syringes
Mourning a pregnancy loss
Injecting myself with fertility meds
Terrified of flying in the first trimester
Hiding an early pregnancy from friends/family
Miscarrying in the bathroom of an Airbnb
