As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month this May, we’re proud to spotlight a story that reminds us how meaningful care can come in many forms. 🐾💙

One of our colleagues, Mary Ann, has spent the past decade volunteering with her therapy dog, 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧, through the St John Ambulance Dog Therapy program. Since he was just two years old (he’s now 12!), Finn has completed over 𝟐𝟓𝟎 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 across our community, bringing comfort, connection, and joy to those who need it most – one paw at a time!

From seniors’ residences and hospitals to schools, libraries, hospice homes, and organizations supporting families living with cancer, Mary Ann and Finn have made a remarkable impact. Whether it’s children reading to Finn to build confidence, seniors eagerly awaiting his weekly visits, or individuals experiencing profound moments of connection, his presence makes a difference.

Some of the moments that stay with Mary Ann includes:
• A woman who is both deaf and blind lighting up with joy as she felt Finn’s gentle presence
• A child with severe physical disabilities comforted by Finn resting his head softly on their forehead
• A senior who greets Finn each week with a song and calls him “such a nice person”

Beyond these heartfelt moments, therapy dogs like Finn are known to help 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, which are especially important when we think about mental health and well-being.

At Acronym Solutions, we’re incredibly proud to have team members like Mary Ann who give so generously outside of work and make a meaningful impact in our communities. And, of course, we’re grateful for Finn—an Australian Labradoodle truly living out what he was meant to do.
