Precision oncology is not just about finding better treatments — it is also about knowing when to avoid the wrong ones.

In this video, Dr. Oliver Bathe, surgical oncologist and professor at the University of Calgary, explains how comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) helps clinicians personalize cancer care: selecting the right drugs, the right surgical approach, and — critically — avoiding overtreatment where it is not warranted. CGP enables this by going beyond what a microscope can see, giving clinicians a deeper understanding of each tumour's underlying biology.

Join us for CCRAN's 4th Annual Pan-Tumour Biomarkers Conference — a free, two-day virtual event on June 18–19, 2026. This year, for the first time, sessions will be available with real-time translation in French and 60+ other languages.
