🧺ARTIST SPOTLIGHT- Shamanta Chandran🧺

Our Spotlight this week is DJ, Producer, and Scientist Shamanta Chandran! Shamanta is a Syrian-born, Tamil/Canadian that grew up in the outskirts of Toronto. As a suburban arts high school kid she studied and trained in opera and jazz. After tagging along with her older brother to a rave in the mid-90’s Toronto scene, a love for electronic music was ignited.
She has been marinating in the studio for years, delving into the sounds of modular and analog synths where growling basslines and haunting melodies are a subject of her affection.

Make sure to follow and support Shamanta at her socials!

FEATURING
✨Tafari Anthony✨
Tafari (pronounced Ta-far-eye) Anthony is a Toronto based artist whose music blends Pop & Soul. He is a creator who embodies the spirit of the modern musician. Not just a musician, but a creator. Known for his sleek vocal tones, sultry melodies and music which oozes with personality, Tafari leaves listeners in awe – somewhat apt considering his name means “He who inspires awe”.

Thematically, Tafari’s music often details love, relationships, life’s hardships and finding self-identity and worth in a world where most feel they need to blend in. “I would hope that my music would inspire someone to be less afraid of being themselves. Be less afraid of offending people by expressing how you truly feel. And to be less afraid of wanting the things you desire and deserve”.

Having taken a break from releasing music in 2018 to focus on creating material which explored his own personal soundscape, Tafari returned in 2020 with his Pop anthems, “Centerfold”, “Live in a Dream” & “No Good.”

Tafari has seen success with his music garnering acclaim from the likes of PAPER Magazine, Billboard, Gay Times, Earmilk and MTV to name a few. He has been nominated for a TIMA and receives regular airplay on CBC, with one of his singles being named one of CBC’s Most Influential Songs of 2016. The singer has also performed alongside Shangela (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and has performed at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre and Massey Hall. His latest EP “The Way You See Me” was released to critical acclaim from PAPER Magazine & Billboard in November 2020.
