This book is cool — not a word we use w***y nilly. It is by no means the only word we’re assigning to God is a Pickle: how about practical, seasonal, ego-less, gorgeous & rare. It’s one of very few Czech cookbooks in English, and although much of it’s focus is on preserves & pickles, it also offers a cross-section of tempting recipes using preserves, and wonderful stories about the people & places it documents. Yes, it’s $$ but if you’re in the market for such a book, you’ll have no regrets.

As if spring & summer weren’t already sweet enough… let there be cake, and fruit, and creamy toppings on repeat.

Go ahead and eat panko-crusted hort dorgs & viennoiserie filled to the brim with pastry cream. BUT make sure to get some nutrition in between: whole grain, veg, a little ferment. Here are some excellent tomes to inspire a healthy balance.
