For the first time, the Philippines joined the Honda Celebration of Light and won the 2023 musical fireworks competition. Now on its 31st year, three countries compete every summer in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

With a panel of judges using a 100 point scale, the Philippines beat Mexico and Australia. All shows started at 10 pm days apart, and lasted for 25 minutes. The Philippine night attracted the largest crowd at 300,000 plus people.

Blue Peacock Fireworks based in Sta. Maria, Bulacan Philippines was founded by Robert Basihan, who is the fireworks designer for the Philippine entry.

The Prom follows four Broadway actors lamenting their days of fame, as they travel to the conservative town of Edgewater, Indiana, to help a le***an student banned from bringing her girlfriend to high school prom. Based on a real story, The Prom will open your eyes and heart to Acceptance.

To know more of and hear The Prom, The Filipino Edition converses with TUTS’ BIPOC Music Director Fellow Creative Fellow Eliza De Castro. Of Filipino descent, Eliza is a music director, educator, and performer originally hailing from Brisbane, Australia.
