nd Up Café, keeping the name from its previous owners, and for many years ran the restaurant 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Round Up Café prides itself on its home cooked meals and pies, prepared daily by a small team of dedicated staff. “Everything here is made from scratch every day”, says Goldie, “the soups, the potatoes, even the pies!” The Round Up Café specializes in traditional Ukrainian food, with dishes such as cabbage rolls and perogies being among the most popular. Aside from the retro green walls and cozy seating, when you walk into the Round Up Café your eye is immediately drawn to the back wall, where framed photographs, news articles, and other baseball memorabilia are hung. Goldie’s husband Orest was a huge baseball fan, playing the sport himself when he was young. After moving to Surrey, Orest took up coaching the Whalley Little League, successfully taking the
team to the World Series on a number of occasions. Aside from the joy of providing quality home cooked meals, what keeps someone in the restaurant industry for nearly 60 years? “I love the people” laughs Goldie, “we have lots of regular clients, some that have been coming in for years, and I often come in just to visit”.
