Hi, my name is Natalie, and I am so excited to offer private music lessons this fall at Strathroy Christian School! From a young age I have been developing my skills in piano, guitar, and voice, but it is my greatest joy to help others connect with music and grow in their abilities. I love Jesus with all of my heart, and have had the pleasure of leading worship for many years in various settings w
ithin church ministry. I attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from Liberty University in 2011. Over the years I have had many opportunities to participate in musical theatre productions, competitive music competitions, small ensembles, bands and choirs. I have also continued teaching music and leading worship in the church to this day. I'm passionate about teaching all of my students to grow and develop their skills in a fun and dynamic way. I also want to encourage them to use their unique gifts and abilities to glorify and worship God. Please find below, details on what I am offering for this fall. Voice:
Modern and classical training with an emphasis on proper singing techniques, diction, breathing, confidence, site reading, and voice placement. Beginners can expect a wide range of exercises and training of the voice, breathing practice, learning songs of interest, and singing with accompaniment. More seasoned vocalists will learn harmony, blending, and expand their repertoire and vocal skills. Students will need to bring a three ringed binder with lined paper, a pencil, and a water bottle to their lessons. Guitar:
Acoustic, rhythm guitar, with an emphasis on chording, rhythm, and site reading. Beginners can expect to learn the parts of the guitar, tuning and proper care of their instrument, basic chording and finger placement, and learn to play songs of interest. More seasoned guitarists will be challenged to play more difficult chords, finger picking, Nashville number system, and playing with other instruments. Students will need to bring a three ringed binder with lined paper, a pencil, and instrument to their lessons. Beginner Piano:
Learning from Alfred’s Basic Piano Library series, students will be initially assessed as to what level they will begin with and then gradually move through the series. The student will purchase their own book so they can bring this home for practicing. This book is a foundational tool and will be a baseline for students. As they progress in their skills they will also learn to play songs of interest, duets, and with other instruments. Students will need to bring their piano book, lined notebook, and pencil to each lesson. Students must have an instrument to practice on at home. (Either a keyboard or a piano.) Worship Piano:
Chording piano with worship song charts, with an emphasis on rhythm, site reading, scales, Nashville number system, playing within a group, and worship leading discipleship. Beginners can expect to learn scales, the circle of fifths, chording and playing modern worship songs of interest. More advanced students will learn how to play with other instruments, lead from the piano, learn fills within a scale, with an overall deep focus on the heart of worship. Students will need to bring a three ringed binder with lined paper and a pencil to their lessons.
