Skaters with single leg box jumps are one of our favorites exercises for our young hockey players to build a ton of speed and power in the off-season!!

Your weight can fluctuate for SO many reasons that have nothing to do with “failing.” 👏

In fact, research shows it’s completely normal for body weight to fluctuate by 2–5+ pounds from day to day depending on things like hydration, sodium intake, carbohydrates, hormones, digestion, inflammation, stress, sleep, and activity levels. Your body is made up of roughly 60% water — meaning small shifts in fluid balance alone can create noticeable changes on the scale.

One high-sodium meal.
Poor sleep.
Travel.
Stress.
Hormones.
A tough workout.
Constipation.
Inflammation.

All of these can temporarily change your scale weight without reflecting actual fat gain or fat loss.

The scale is simply a data point — not a reflection of your worth, effort, or progress.

Too often, people panic after seeing the scale jump up overnight and assume they’ve “ruined everything,” when in reality the body is constantly responding to recovery, hydration, food volume, hormones, and life itself.

This is why we focus on trends over time, not single-day weigh-ins.

Progress isn’t built in one meal, one workout, or one weigh-in.
And it’s definitely not destroyed by them either 💛

Because progress isn’t just weight loss.

Sometimes progress looks like:
