I was proud to again vote against Bill C-9 and stand with the many Canadians who raised serious concerns about its impact on freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and freedom of conscience.
Despite widespread opposition and significant concerns raised throughout the legislative process, the Liberal government pushed this bill through the House of Commons.
While amendments were made in the Senate, I remain concerned about the precedent this legislation sets and the potential consequences for fundamental freedoms in Canada. Canadians deserve laws that do not undermine the rights and freedoms that form the foundation of our democracy.
Canadians are being asked to navigate two challenges at once: economic uncertainty today and technological changes tomorrow.
As the Liberal government advances ambitious plans for artificial intelligence, Canadians deserve honest answers about how these changes will affect jobs, families, and communities. If automation allows businesses to do more with fewer workers, we must ensure that workers are not left behind.
Technology should create opportunity, not anxiety. The goal cannot simply be more technology and more government spending. It must be a future where Canadians can find meaningful work, build prosperous lives, and share in the benefits of innovation.
