🧡 Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day! 🧡
Today we celebrate the cultures, histories, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Turtle Island.
June 21 was chosen because it coincides with the summer solstice, a time that holds cultural significance for many Indigenous Nations.
This year, the day also falls on Father’s Day. We extend our gratitude to Indigenous fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and father figures who continue to guide, teach, and support future generations.
Take time today to learn, celebrate, attend a community event, support Indigenous artists, and reflect on the importance of Indigenous cultures and histories.

🌿 June is National Indigenous History Month 🌿
This month, we encourage our community to learn more about the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
Education is one part of reconciliation. By learning from Indigenous voices and perspectives, we can all contribute to creating safer, more respectful, and more inclusive communities.
📚 This week’s featured resource is Tbestawaw8gan 2.0: Listening to Indigenous Student Realities, a collaborative educational tool that includes contributions from members of the Bishop’s University community.

Today, May 5th, we honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.
This day raises awareness of the ongoing violence faced by Indigenous communities and recognizes the lives that have been lost, as well as those still missing.
We stand in solidarity with families, survivors, and communities.
We remember. We honour. We call for justice.

This weekend we had our last land-based session of the semester. We had a good time finishing our shelter and spending time on the land before exams started. We ate some yummy moose burgers over the fire 🔥 😋 We are grateful for knowledge holder David McComber for sharing his teachings over the past 4 years now. 💜
