xing. As of Feb 1, 2017, the gym is again under new management - Lion Fight Team, or LIFT. William holds a Brown Belt in Judo and is a skilled grappler, Jiu Jitsu practitioner and all-round Mixed Martial Artist. He is a long time resident of Sechelt and a former senior member of Ostovics Gym. William is assisted in the grappling classes by Braedon Hopkins, an accomplished grappler and kickboxer in his own right. The Kickboxing classes are led by Justin Paul, also a former member of Ostovic's Gym. Justin earned his Black Belt in Muay Thai Kickboxing from Ostovic's Gym. He is the most senior member of the club, and has a sparkling 7-0 professional record in the ring. Justin is known for impeccable Muay Thai techniques and fast-paced, challenging work-outs. Backing him up are Instructors, Pam Brackett, Mike Evans and Ryan Daley, all of whom hold Black Belts in Muay Thai Kickboxing. All have many years in Kickboxing and all have experience training both new and experienced students alike. LIFT has a beautiful facility at 102 - 5631 Inlet Ave., the Belmar Building, in Sechelt. We are set up to host Grappling and Kickboxing classes - we also have an assortment of heavy bags and free weights. Prospective members must be of good health and able to stand up to the rigors of strenuous work-outs. Dues are $100 per month for members, $10 drop in for part time members. . We recommend shorts and t-shirts for work-outs and we encourage students to bring their own hand wraps. We have all other gear necessary - gloves, focus mitts, Thai pads, etc. Students who stay with it will want to purchase their own 16 oz gloves and focus mitts. LIFT is extremely proud to have an association with Gibson MMA, home of UFC 24 Champion, Lance Gibson, Sr., and many successful MMA fighters, including Julia Budd and Lance Gibson Jr. LIFT students looking for that next step into professional MMA and world-class training are referred to Gibson MMA. Students are reminded that Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing are vigorous, contact sports. Injuries are infrequent, but they do occur. If you want to completely avoid all risk of injury, DO NOT join LIFT.
