Great to see Jordyn recognized. She’s a valued part of the Breck team and brings a strong work ethic to the job every day. Proud to have her on our team!
This post is about Jordyn from Sheet Metal Workers Local 296, Saskatchewan, one of the first women from her local to attend Tradeswomen Build Nations last year. We’re so proud of her for representing her local and continuing to pave the way for the women coming up behind her. 💪✨
When asked about when she realized she truly belonged in construction, Jordyn shared that it wasn’t one big defining moment. It was a slow realization.
It was going from being the gopher — grabbing materials and keeping her head down — to leading a crew and directing a crane to set panels on the wall.
It was going from being the quiet person in the trailer, keeping to herself, to being part of the daily conversations and joking around with the crew.
It happened little by little. Day by day. By working hard and showing everyone, “I DO belong here — just let me prove it.”
One of the strengths Jordyn brings to construction is her eagerness to learn and her willingness to jump in and try. She’s not afraid to ask questions — about what’s being done, why it’s being done that way, or even suggest a different approach if something isn’t working. That curiosity and confidence make strong tradespeople.
Her advice to other women considering the trades?
Don’t be scared of trying.
Jordyn didn’t get into construction until she was 32. Leaving a 9–5 office job to join her union felt unnerving — even scary. But it showed her just how capable and strong she truly is, and how much she has grown mentally and physically.
"When you find something, you truly enjoy, it makes waking up ridiculously early a whole lot easier than waking up for something you don’t love. You’ve got this". 👷♀️💥

There’s something magical about the New Year. The calendar is clean(ish), the inbox is quiet, and for a moment everything feels a little less rushed.
We’re thankful for the trust we’ve been given and for the people we get to work with every day. Last year was a good one, and 2026 is shaping up to be even better.
But for now, we’re enjoying this last bit of calm before things get moving again.
