Today is Star Wars Day! You might wonder what Star Wars has to do with literacy. Well, it helps us learn about different ideas, and it encourages imagination and wonder.

It’s also good to help kids learn through something that interests them (why not Star Wars?). But did you know that Star Wars can even help explain how to build good, clear messages?

Plain language and Star Wars, who knew? Plus: literacy, like the force, will be with you… always.

This week is National Volunteer Week! Volunteers support literacy programs for people across Canada. This work builds experience, advances literacy, and connects our communities.

So much of what we do in literacy is possible because of volunteers. Thank you for all you do!
