👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The 2025 Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program is now open!

📬 IRCC has started sending out invitations to apply (ITA) under the 2025 PGP. Around 17,860 invitations will be sent, aiming to approve 10,000 complete applications.

✅ Only individuals who submitted an “Interest to Sponsor” form in 2020 (and haven’t been invited yet) are eligible this round.
⚠️ No new submissions are being accepted in 2025.

📅 If you submitted the form back in 2020, check your email carefully (including your spam folder) to see if you’ve received an invitation.

💰 Sponsors must meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) for 2022, 2023, and 2024, based on family size. Income proof from tax returns is required.

🔒 A 20-year financial undertaking is also required (10 years in Quebec).

📝 If you receive an invitation, you must submit your full application through the PR portal before the deadline indicated in your email (no later than October 9, 2025).

💡 Didn’t receive an invitation? You can still consider applying for a Super Visa, which allows your parents or grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with possible extensions.

🇨🇦 IRCC Backlog Update: Over 840,000 Applications Delayed

Thinking of applying for a Canadian visa or immigration program? Here's what you should know:

📌 As of June 30, 2025, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is facing a growing application backlog — now sitting at 842,800 cases across all programs.

🔍 Here’s a quick breakdown:

🛂 Permanent Residence (PR)
• 46% of PR files are backlogged — especially high in Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
• Express Entry backlog is around 20%, while family sponsorship sits near 14%.

🧳 Temporary Visas (Work, Study, Visit)
• Overall backlog rate: 36%
• Work Permits: 40% backlogged
• Visitor Visas: 53% (a slight drop from May)
✅ Study Permits: Good news! Backlog dropped to 18% — the lowest in over a year.

🍁 Citizenship Applications
• Holding steady at 19%, within IRCC’s standard processing time.

💡 Why the delay?
IRCC is dealing with a high volume of applications, limited staffing, and shifting immigration targets. While automation is helping, complex files still need human review.

📬 Planning to apply soon?
Make sure you understand the current wait times and choose the right program for your situation.

🇨🇦 Thinking about immigrating to Canada through entrepreneurship?

Here’s a lesser-known pathway that might suit you better than you think:
The New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream (NB BIS).

✅ Invest at least $150,000 CAD
✅ Have a personal net worth of $500,000+
✅ Own or manage a business
✅ Willing to live and run a business in New Brunswick
✅ Basic English skills (CLB 4+)
✅ Age 19–59

🔍 If this sounds like you, you might be a good fit for this pathway.

💡 This is not a passive investment route. You must actively manage the business and live in the province.

📌 It starts with a work permit – and only after meeting specific business conditions can you apply for permanent residency.
