šŸ’¬ Before your massage

Wondering how to prepare for your massage? Consider the following:

Intake formā€¼ļø
If you are a new client, once you’ve booked your first appointment, you will receive an email inviting you to create a profile through my booking website. In addition, there will be an intake form available that must be completed before your first session. This form only needs to be filled out once, for your first visit, and again on a yearly basis to make sure your profile is up to date.

ā§ Just got a new tattoo? ā§
You will have to wait a minimum of 2 weeks (4 weeks is even better) before I can work over the area(s) you just got tattooed. As long as you can lay comfortably on the area, and your fresh tattoo is covered to avoid the spread of bloodborne pathogens and infection, we can focus on other areas during your session.

ā˜€ļøFresh Sunburn?ā˜€ļø
It’s that time of year for soaking up rays and regretfully, picking up sunburns. If the sunburnt area is painful to the touch, I will need to avoid it in order to avoid aggravating the skin further and causing you unnecessary discomfort. If the sunburn prevents you from laying on the area comfortably, consider waiting until your skin has had time to heal before booking your appointment.

Up close and personal šŸ’†ā€ā™€ļø
Like many other personal services available, a massage session requires the client and therapist to be in very close proximity. Showering as close as possible to your appointment is always appreciated. This is in no way to discourage you from coming for a massage directly after work, just something to consider.

And a good rule of thumb for any appointment, plan to arrive on time or early. This will ensure you have time to find a parking spot, figure out the new parking app, use the restroom and silence your phone. I want to provide you with a relaxing session, so let's make sure things are taken care of before we start so you won’t have to stress during your session.

šŸ’¬FAQ

Q: Do I have to get naked for my massage?

A: Your comfort is my top priority.

Every session begins with a client consultation; this is when we discuss what brought you in today. I will inquire about what sort of treatment you want, general or specific areas of the body you would like to focus on or avoid completely. I will also answer any questions you may have. So please feel free to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have, not only during this time, but at any time during your session.

After the consultation, I will leave the room so you can get undressed to your level of comfort, and I mean *any* level of comfort that is suitable for you (from naked to fully clothed). I can do techniques over clothing, so if you are more comfortable clothed, half-clothed, or unclothed, I will work with you to ensure you feel at ease and safe. Once you are ready, get between the fitted sheet and the top sheet; face down unless otherwise instructed. A table warmer is available underneath to keep you warm and cozy throughout the session. Simply let me know what setting you would like (high, medium, low or off); this can be adjusted at any time during your massage.

During the massage, only the body part that I am working on is uncovered. I will only work on one body part at a time and I’ll never work under the sheet. You should feel covered, warm and comfortable throughout your session.

Your comfort is always my top priority; if you are too warm, too cold, or uncomfortable in any way, please speak up and let me know!

When it is time for you to turn over, I will lift up the sheet enough for you to roll over while remaining fully covered. I also have an additional heating pad to lay on top of you if you would like some extra warmth.

Once the massage is done, I will cover you back up completely before leaving the room. Once you are ready (take your time getting up as you might be groggy) you can get up and get dressed.

Q: What do people usually do?

A: More often than not, clients will undress down to their underwear.

The most important thing is my clients’ comfort and I am happy to work with any amount of clothing you decide to take off or leave on.

šŸ’¬ FAQ

Q: I’ve arrived for my appointment, I don’t see your business name anywhere… Am I in the right place?

A: Short answer, if you have entered the 3rd floor of the Financial Building and you see a big black wall with ā€˜The Guild Studios’ logo in white; you are in the right place!

Long answer: My business operates out of The Guild Studios along with many other micro businesses like mine. We each offer varying services out of our own private suites! The Guild Studios is like our landlord and we are the tenants. That’s why when you get off the elevator you don’t see my name or any other professionals’ name, you see ā€˜The Guild Studios’ logo.

Q: Where do I go once I have arrived for my appointment?

A: Please have a seat in our lounge, just off to the left of the elevators. Please do not come to my suite, I am most likely still with a client, or resetting the space for your appointment. When I am ready, I will come get you at the lounge. Please feel free to use the restrooms before your appointment or shop while you wait. There are two washrooms available with ungendered signing, they are located to the right of the elevators. You can find more information in your pre-appointment email.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or DM. I look forward to seeing you for your next appointment!

Have you ever wondered what duration you should be booking for your massage appointment? Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind when booking your next appointment.

30 minutes: Ideal for one small area like the neck and shoulders, good for maintenance for a specific issue. Recommended duration for seniors or those with compromising conditions that make longer treatments unsuitable.

60 minutes: Ideal for addressing issues, and general full body treatment.

90 minutes: Great for complex issues and issues affecting multiple areas of the body. Good for full body treatments with specific focused work.

45 & 75 minutes: extended duration for 30 & 60 minute massage treatments.

If you are still unsure what duration you should book in for, don’t hesitate to email or DM. I’d be happy to assist you with your booking needs.
