Another quilt I finished in June 2023 (!) that hasn’t made it to the grid: the Patchwork Hearts Quilt by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love. This quilt is all lovely shades of pink and coral Ruby Star prints and basics, inspired by the cover version of the quilt. I know that Emily is gearing up for her annual Heart QAL right now. Finally had the chance to get to know the pretty pink vintage Brother machine over this last weekend. I can see advantages (so fast and quiet, machine set into the table) and disadvantages (ergonomically not ideal, hinges stick up on the extension table and catch on the piecing as the quilt top grows in size).
This scrappy baby quilt will be going to welcome the great-granddaughter of this machine's original owner. 💕 It was a privilege to be able to gift this one!
I used Amy Smart's tutorial for an Irish Chain baby quilt (will link tutorial below in comments), but used various 2.5" strips and varied the placement for the "scrappy" look. A simple grid for quilting echoes the background fabric. It's always a pleasure to sew with the Ruby Star basics!
