Meta's VR transition has caused some confusion with enterprise users. Oculus for Business sales end in December but the new Work Account system won't be brought online until 2023.
In the interim, enterprise customers have no option except consumer headsets which must be linked to a Facebook account. But, contrary to widespread misconception, you DO NOT need a separate FB account for each headset. If you are acquiring multiple headsets for business use, you only need to connect them to a single, dormant personal account.
The account cannot be a business account or a fake name but a single individual in your organization can set up a secondary personal FB account for the sole purpose of registering the headsets.)
And the bonus good news: Consumer headsets are half the price of the former Business headsets!

Key learnings from our visit to CES 2020 XR exhibits:
- the Pimax and Varjo headsets are as good as advertised if not better and offer vast improvements for enterprise VR
- Mixed reality - the next, more consumer-friendly generation of Google Goggles - is still an impractical novelty. Although it was one of the stars of the show with roughly 20 MR vendors, none of the headsets offered an engaging or useful experience, in our opinion.
- Haptic (touch simulation) technology is likewise a long way off but is making incremental advances thanks to a cadre of dedicated evangelists. Special shout out to our new friends at Sense Glove for their hospitality and innovation.
- Ultraleap continues to be the industry leader in hand-tracking. Their new Rigel sensor delivers significant improvements over the legacy Leap Motion sensor.
- After years of hovering on the fringes, Beijing-based Pico Interactive is poised to make a major North American breakthrough with its impressive Neo 2, a 6DOF Quest competitor.
