I wouldn’t say it happens often, but once in a while, something happens that restores my faith in humanity. Sometimes it’s something small, sometimes not so small…

A customer, who I can’t thank enough, bought me a $400 Tormek stone. I’m still in disbelief, lol. This isn’t just any old stone… This stone in particular will cut any super steel on the market with ease, and will even cut tungsten carbide. To my knowledge, the only other abrasive capable of this is diamond.

Backstory: This fine young gentleman recently dropped off a bag of knives for sharpening. In the bag was a limited production Spyderco Manix 2 in Bohler M390 steel. If you know anything about steel, you’ll know some steels are very hard and require special abrasives to sharpen. I told him “Unfortunately, I’m unable to sharpen the M390 Manix. Simply put, the blade is harder than the abrasive I currently use.”

About a week later he reached out.. we had a short conversation, and he ended up ordering Tormek’s SB-250 Blackstone Silicon. Needless to say, he gets free sharpens for life 😂❤️
