I bought this sunflower at the grocery store because it was pretty. Put it outside. It did not survive.

This week my kids and I made sandwiches and handed them out at the church. We took the bus up to the Plaines to see a laser show. My almost-12-year-old walked to the store alone for laundry detergent. The 9-year-old made a painting. The teenagers took a bus to the movies by themselves. The oldest made pad thai.

Everyone is okay. More than okay, actually.

Tomorrow I’m teaching an intuitive painting workshop and I am so freaking stoked. It’s sold out. The sunflower didn’t make it but everything else is doing great.

Hi, I’m Amanda.

I’m an artist. My work is for sale at Trampoline boutique in Saint-Roch, and last week I was vending at L’Émergent with my kid by my side, which is honestly my favorite way to do anything.

I paint intuitively. I write. I do street photography. I facilitate workshops where people make a mess on purpose and call it healing. I’m a parent of five and a co-founder of Ta-da : un espace créatif, a solidarity cooperative we’re building from scratch in Québec City.

This afternoon I texted my co-op group chat asking if anyone knew how to install a dishwasher that has been sitting uninstalled in my kitchen for several months. Under a pile of dirty dishes. They all said yes immediately. A friend’s husband is already doing research on the brand.

This is what I’m building. Not just the co-op — the village.

After I sent that text I walked to the pharmacy in the rain in my pajama pants for a Diva Cup and a Twix bar.

Hi. That’s me.
