It’s a quiet time in the depth of winter. Enjoying simplicity, reconnecting with family and our land here, spending time outside, listening in the rooted silence of the landscape. Reading, writing, drawing. Slowly. Bits and pieces, gathering. Sitting by candlelight, contemplating.

I walk the forest here and see every version of myself. I see it all shift before my eyes; long grass and wild flowers - I’m running in the field, birch leaves rustling in the wind, the wood stacking, the mud in the spring through the wheels of the dunebuggie, and the beavers making their dam. The raspberry patch, the black cherries, the chives we ate in between conversations. The games of cards at the shack after sliding down the snowy hill all day - the mighty jump just before we hit the frozen river. The pine trees that grew alongside our childhood, our snowmobile adventures, and the warm homemade doughnuts welcoming our return. The old birdhouse by the garage that fosters a family of swallows every year and the hummingbirds who travel this far north in the summer time.
I revisit the visions I had here as a child - the mystery lingers sweetly in the air.
