You just need the right team. While walking their dogs in the same neighbourhood, Torsten Lihra and Paul Hinton were struck by an idea. Many of their friends in the music community needed help to get their music produced. Singers and soloists had great songs but no band, studio or production team to get it played, recorded, mixed, mastered and broadcast ready. There were also many of their friends who were non-professionals but with the desire and dream to cut a record - only lacking the expertise to get it done. By combining their production expertise, contacts in the business, and professional musical experience, Paul and Torsten could help local professionals and aspiring musicians get their songs fully produced. The next dog walk coincided with their first project and, yes, a weekend long power failure. That’s how the Lights Out Collective was born. This includes the recording of your parts in a pro studio such as Studio Sismique. Normally, you would need to hire an arranger $, a band $$$, a studio engineer $$$ and a producer $ to get your song from an idea in your head to streaming online or on vinyl. It would easily cost several thousands for one song and you can be looking at a timeline with no end in sight as well as a final product that has little to do with your artistic vision. With the Lights Out Collective we get it done. You can benefit from Paul and Torsten’s skills built upon decades of experience as professional musicians and recording engineers. They will record and produce the instrumental, send it to you and have you practice it until it is ready. Then the production team will meet up with you at one of the best recording studios in town (Studio Sismique is our first choice ) to help you deliver your best performance and capture the magic using top of the line microphones, preamps and gear. ...all the while giving you an experience many only dream of in a full scale recording studio. There are not many of these major studios left in the world as the record business has suffered so we are lucky to have contacts and access to one of the best in town. Paul has recorded, co-produced several records there and is familiar with the SSL console and setup. Yep, it's the real deal! The next step is editing- any mistakes that can’t be fixed in the performance will be tackled here by Torsten and Paul. The mix is when it starts to all come together. Then it is mastered and prepared for cd, streaming or vinyl depending upon your wishes. There are grants available and you can also be guided in the right direction for the application process. This production model allows for the best of both worlds. You get a major studio experience when you record but your overall project benefits from a lower price since the instrumental was produced ahead of time by Paul and Torsten.
